Stensland Family Farms to add east-side store

The east side will have its own Stensland Family Farms ice cream shop this summer.
The Iowa-based family dairy is adding a store at 41st Street and Sycamore Avenue next to Anytime Fitness.
It will be about half the size but offer the same products as the Stensland store at 3101 W. 41st St., plus some outdoor seating.
“I think a lot of our east-side fans have missed out on coming in as much as they want to,” said Leah Moller, a family owner who helps oversees retail operations and marketing. “It’s a neighborhood location, which is what we were looking for.”
Stensland has looked at the east side since last year, added Scott Blount of Lloyd Cos., who helped it lease the space.
“They’re impressed with the number of rooftops in the area,” he said. “And the intersection of 41st Street and Sycamore Avenue is a growing retail intersection, with Fareway and The Attic and some things happening that make it attractive, specifically the number of single-family homes.”
Stensland plans to be open by early May.
The new store builds on an already busy year for the family dairy near Larchwood, Iowa, which also plans to begin managing Falls Overlook Cafe at Falls Park. It’s possible both new locations could open about the same time.
