Stensland Family Farms has placed in the top three nationwide with two of its ice cream flavors.

The company’s vanilla and Strawberry Fields flavors each ranked third at the annual National Ice Cream Retailers Association conference this week.

There were 25 entries in each category, which were judged by a dairy lab scientist at the University of Minnesota.

Stensland opened its ice cream shop on 41st Street with 13 flavors last year. It’s grown to 36 flavors, and the owners say they’re already working on new ones to enter in next year’s national competition.

The ice cream also is available in some grocery stores.
