The Mason Jar Boutique to relocate, add new concept

Oct. 21, 2022

The Mason Jar Boutique is tripling the size of its Sioux Falls store as it moves spaces and adds a home decor and furniture boutique.

The business still will be located at The Bridges at 57th. The new boutique, Wild Rustic Home, will be part of the larger new site. They’ll be on the lower level of the building that includes Scooter’s Coffee in the space that most recently was a boutique and baby store.

Owner Katie Wilson and sister Ashley Dixon opened The Mason Jar Boutique in 2014 in Dell Rapids. Since then, the women have expanded into Arizona and North Dakota — with more than 50 employees — and said they always knew there was room to grow.

“Back in the day, I had a home accent store in Dell Rapids, where Mason Jar originated, which was adjacent to Mason Jar’s original boutique,” Wilson said.

When Courtney Hult later joined The Mason Jar retail team, she brought years of experience in interior design.

“This is my passion,” Hult said. “I’ve worked with builders, Parade homes, spec homes, furniture stores, so I can’t wait to mesh this with the retail aspect.”

The idea to add furniture and home decor has been brewing for a while, but once the team of three landed on solid plans, things escalated quickly, and in a matter of weeks, they had an offer on the new space and construction began.

“The clothing is epic, but people want the home goods and gift items too,” Hult said. “The really cool thing about the space is by adding furniture into the pods and cutout areas, we can have styled shoots of all kinds in the kitchen, bedroom and living room, and change things based on the season.”

The new 7,000-square-foot location at the retail center at 57th Street and Western Avenue also will include a separate space for their new warehouse and marketing offices.

“I want people to walk in and say ‘I want this to be my house,’” Hult explained. “We want customers to come in and feel comfortable, be able to see things in their space at an affordable price point.”

Starting with home goods and decor, the team eventually will evolve into more furniture and design services, listening to their customers’ needs along the way.

“It’ll be a fun shopping experience for those who are already coming to this area of town,” Hult said. “We’re pumped to see it all come together.”

The grand opening for Wild Rustic Home and reopening of The Mason Jar Boutique in the shared space will be Nov. 19, with live music, food, drinks and free gifts. Visit Wild Rustic Home’s new Facebook page or website for developments.
