The Spice & Tea Exchange sets opening date

It won’t be long before the signature aroma of The Spice & Tea Exchange arrives in downtown Sioux Falls.
The store at 328 S. Phillips Ave. is set to open at 10 a.m. June 14. It’s being franchised by Tami and Vernon Brown, and construction is on schedule.
“It’s all painted, and the tea bar and blending bar are built,” Tami Brown said.
The Spice & Tea Exchange is an experienced-based store offering:
- 140 spices
- 85 exclusive hand-mixed blends
- 40-plus exotic teas
- Naturally flavored sugars
- Infused salts from around the world
- Gourmet gifts and accessories
“I think it’s a great product. We think it’s the right thing to do. But what’s amazing to me is, since we announced it, how many people have said they’re so excited,” Brown said. “They love tea and love to cook, so we’ve had really good, positive feedback from people. That’s a really good sign. It says a lot about Sioux Falls and its loyalty to small business.”
There are about 70 The Spice & Tea Exchange locations in 30 states.
“We’ve started hiring, but we’re always going to be looking for staff with great guest-service skills,” Brown said. “We think once the store is open and people see it that they will want to work there because the environment is fun, the product is high quality and there are so many ways you can experiment with cooking and sugars and salts and teas.”
While opening day is June 14, a grand opening will be held later in the summer.
