Unglued to close Sioux Falls store

Unglued plans to close its downtown Sioux Falls store on Jan. 10, 2018.

The store opened at 218 S. Phillips Ave. in 2015 following a holiday pop-up shop.

It’s based in North Dakota.

The business will hold a community craft party Jan. 13 to thank the community.

Unglued told its handmade vendors about the plan last month to discontinue the lease.

“The past 2.5 years have been absolutely incredible,” owner Ashley Morken said. “We’ve worked with our amazing crew and manager, connected with crazy talented makers, and our customers have become dear friends. What we’ve also learned over the past couple years is that our consignment model, margins, and sales trends haven’t supported our operating expenses to have this second location of Unglued in Sioux Falls.”

The store will work to connect makers to other opportunities, she said.

Scratchpad Tees, which had a store-within-a-store at Unglued, is looking for other options downtown.
