Vegans, gluten-conscious diners: This menu is for you

Let’s be real: Sioux Falls isn’t known as a haven for vegetarians and vegans.

Turks & Caicos Cabana Grille is the exception, though. A unique, standalone menu offers a wide variety of appetizers, entrees and sides for vegetarian and vegan eaters, as well as those who are gluten-conscious.

“Supporting a full range of tastes is important to us,” said Tim Meagher, chief operating officer of Vanguard Hospitality, the owner and operator of the restaurant at 57th Street and Western Avenue.

“But honestly, everything on this menu is so delicious we encourage any diner to try it.”

Just look at some of the example dining experiences we created — and read until the end for the complete menu!

The Vegan Meal

Start your dinner with vegetable lettuce wraps. Bibb lettuce cups hold mushrooms, red onions, carrots, snap peas and bean sprouts topped with chipotle sauce.

For your entree, we loved the black bean and avocado tacos. Add caramelized onions and peppers, pico de gallo and chipotle sauce with your choice of a local gluten-free corn tortilla or a lettuce cup.

Gluten-Conscious Feast

Trust us, try the sous vide octopus as your appetizer, gluten-conscious eaters. It’s a delicious adventure with carrot puree, lemon arugula pesto and seared purple potatoes.

For your main course, there are many outstanding options. We suggest the lemongrass and cilantro crusted salmon, served with quinoa tabbouleh, avocado, charred corn, roasted red pepper and mango coulis.

Or try one of our most popular dishes, the Jamaican curried goat, accompanied by curry sauce, poached fingerlings, carrots, coconut rice and beans.

Multiple salads are gluten-friendly too.

Vegetarian Delight

Vegetarians have many tasty choices at Turks & Caicos Cabana Grille.

To start the meal, go with the vegetarian dips. You’ll love the black bean artichoke hummus, guacamole and Caribbean salsa served with corn tortilla chips and fresh cut vegetables.

For your main course, there’s the curried vegetable rice bowl. Coconut rice meets mushrooms, red onions, carrots, snap peas, bean sprouts and curry sauce.

All entree salads also can be served without the protein.

Here’s a look at the complete vegan-vegetarian-gluten-conscious menu. Ask for it any time at Turks & Caicos Cabana Grille!
