Wealth manager named Top Next Generation Advisor by Forbes

Aug. 28, 2018

This week’s Up-and-Comer is Jesse Wright, first vice president of investments and PIM portfolio manager at The Person Wright Financial Group of Wells Fargo Advisors. He recently was named a Top Next Generation Advisor by Forbes.

Name: Jesse Wright

Age: 36

Hometown: Sioux City

What brought you to Sioux Falls?

I had the opportunity to team with long-time family friend and financial adviser, Bryan Person, to create the Person Wright Financial Group of Wells Fargo Advisors. It also didn’t hurt that my beautiful wife, Laura, is a Harrisburg native and her dad, Mike Mechtenberg, a local business owner, is Bryan’s best friend.

What keeps you in Sioux Falls?

My business practice!  I love Sioux Falls and my clients.

What’s your favorite thing about your job?

The satisfaction of helping clients develop and implement wealth-building strategies and then watching the profound impact it can have on someone’s life over time.

How did you get connected to your industry?

I always wanted to be a financial adviser – even as a kid. I set my goal when I started college and stuck with finance. I began my financial career as a licensed trading support specialist with TD Ameritrade, TDA, in Omaha, where I developed my technical and fundamental investment knowledge. I continued to work for TDA for seven years, with the last two as a branch manager of nine investment consultants. During my time with TDA, I also completed my MBA in financial planning from Creighton University, which pushed me into the direction of wealth management. I joined Wells Fargo Advisors with Bryan Person in 2013 to focus on providing individual investment planning advice for clients. The hard part about staying connected is being willing to change with the industry and staying educated on your craft. You have to constantly adapt how you do business, study the global market and consistently interact with clients to stay connected.

Describe The Person Wright Financial Group in three words.

Adaptive, focused and successful.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

Still helping people plan for their financial goals through the Person Wright Financial Group’s wealth management process.
