Which states are most affected by the government shutdown? Here’s how S.D. ranks
Jan. 22, 2018
South Dakota will see about an average impact from the federal government shutdown compared to other states, according to an analysis by WalletHub.
The state ranked No. 21 most affected when looking at six metrics, including share of federal jobs and contracts to the percentage of kids covered by CHIP. Its ranking likely was driven in part by its national parks, which are affected by the shutdown.
Not surprisingly, Washington, D.C., was most affected followed by nearby Maryland and Virginia.
Minnesota was least affected.
