Year Round Brown to add ‘super stores’ after acquiring Sun Tan City

The experience of tanning is getting even better.
Year Round Brown is making plans to grow after acquiring three Sun Tan City locations late last year.
With nine locations, including six in Sioux Falls, owner Dennis Neugebauer and CEO Zach Neugebauer have plenty to keep them busy, including plans for a new west-side location opening next to a new GreatLIFE Golf & Fitness early next year.
We caught up with them for a look at what’s new, including their plans to bring more “super stores” to town.
You just opened an expanded east-side location in a former Sun Tan City location at 26th and Sycamore. What will people discover there?
We are going for a very high-end feel with a relaxing, modern vibe. This will be the biggest tanning salon in the state with over 35 rooms for both sunbeds and spray tanning. We are bringing in the most state-of-the-art beds from Germany and heated spray tans. The strip mall boasts a huge parking lot, and with over 5,000 square feet, this location is going to be super convenient to get in and out quickly.
What do you find are people’s biggest surprises when they visit Year Round Brown?
Every day, we commit to providing tanning in a clean, bright and friendly atmosphere. It sounds simple, but we think our constant commitment to those values really stands out to our customers from the moment they walk in.
Is there anything new you’re offering this spring and summer?
Since March 1, we are now open until 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and we have had a very positive response to this change. It seems as we near summer people’s schedules and activities after work run later into the night. This gives customers an opportunity to fit Year Round Brown into their busy schedules.
GreatLIFE members will find Year Round Brown an especially great value. How does your relationship work?
Every GreatLIFE member is eligible to receive a $10 monthly discount on a sunbed or spray tanning membership. So for only $11.95 per month, GreatLIFE members can add Year Round Brown tanning to their package. Current Year Round Brown members also receive $10 monthly discounts on any GreatLIFE single fitness membership.
We now have several locations that are close to each other and soon two locations that will sit side-by-side with an open doorway between both businesses during shared hours. The combination of two great services at a low price has been a tremendous value for both GreatLIFE and Year Round Brown members!
What’s next for Year Round Brown? Do you feel there’s room to add more locations or additional services?
We are excited to announce a brand-new location on the west side of Sioux Falls opening January of 2019. Over the next 18 months, we have plans to expand a few current locations along with equipment upgrades. We are continually looking at potential new locations in the growing areas of Sioux Falls.
