YMCA to shift child care services to EmBe

Oct. 3, 2019

EmBe will be taking over child care services offered by the YMCA.

Children and staff currently served by the YMCA at 220 S. Minnesota Ave. and 2512 S. Carolyn Ave. will transition to EmBe’s downtown or 3510 W. Ralph Rogers Road locations.

“The vision for the YMCA is a powerful one, focused on mission and service,” said Karen Lundquist, EmBe CEO. “Working together is a wonderful opportunity to ensure that Sioux Falls nonprofit organizations are applying efficiency and effectiveness to their mission models.”

The YMCA will continue to offer school-age programs, including Jr. Skyforce basketball, Camp Leif Ericson and a drop-in center for middle and high school students at 12th Street and Minnesota Avenue.

“We’re pleased to continue our work in Sioux Falls, exploring creative and impactful ways to make a difference for youth and families,” said Jeff Morgan, YMCA CEO. “It’s an honor to be shaping the future of the YMCA in our caring community.”

The child care transition will occur over a three-week period ending Oct. 21.
