Your BBQ headquarters: Where grilling and smoking season never ends

Nov. 1, 2019

This paid piece is sponsored by Nyberg’s Ace.

It’s called your complete barbecue headquarters for a reason: From the latest technology to a huge assortment of extras, anyone can become a grill master after a visit to Nyberg’s Ace Grill ‘n Smoke.

“You’re definitely going to find the most complete collection for grilling and smoking needs here,” said Jody Bell, director of sales and operations.

“We have the largest number of name brands for customers, including some of the top names in all arenas of grilling to suit every individual customer.”

You’ll find them all inside the Grill ‘n Smoke headquarters at all five Sioux Falls locations: Traeger, Weber, Big Green Egg, Camp Chef, Blackstone, and Masterbuilt, and Lodge Dutch Oven cookware.

“We have the largest selection of Traeger and Weber grills in the area. Nyberg’s Ace was the first to bring Weber to South Dakota more than 60 years ago, and we’re a Platinum Traeger dealer with specialists in Traeger’s wood pellet grills,” Bell said.

Trends & tech

The biggest movement in grilling is smoking, and Ace is the place for it.

Traeger’s new line Ironwood is exclusive to Ace and offers “some incredible advancements that make everyone a pit master,” Bell said.

The Ironwood’s WiFire technology allows you to control the time and temperature of your grill right from your smartphone.

“And a corresponding app from Traeger allows you to pull a recipe from the cloud and put it in the grill, and it will automatically change the time and temperature depending on what you’re cooking,” Bell said.

The Traeger D2 Drivetrain also allows for faster heating.

“It will heat up as fast as a propane grill,” Bell said. “Its powerful brushless motor system has more torque than any other system on the market.”

Expert advice

If it all seems a little overwhelming, that’s where the specialists at Nyberg’s Ace Grill ‘n Smoke can step in.

“Our highly trained associates ask the right questions to help guide you to the right selection,” Bell said.

“We’ll talk about the capacity you need, as far as your number of guests or family members, and your style of grilling or smoking. I cannot say enough about our Grill ‘n Smoke staff. They have spent a ton of time educating themselves, and I’d put them up against anyone.”

Shop at the 41st Street and Minnesota Avenue location and you’ll be helped by a team led by the legendary Dan the Grill Man. At the 10th Street and Sycamore Avenue location, it’s Keith the Grill Sergeant.

The experts at any location also can guide you to specialized items and accessories.

“If your family loves pizza, we might suggest a pizza grill that can go right on the grilling surface,” Bell said. “There are many accessories that can make the grilling experience even more superior.”

To help add your own flair and flavor, Nyberg’s Ace Grill ‘n Smoke also offers a huge selection and over 150 kinds of rubs, sauces, flavored smoker chips, pellets and charcoal, along with propane available seven days a week.

“You name it, we’ve likely got it,” Bell said. “We’ve picked up some of the biggest brands in spices and rubs, and we’re always expanding hot sauces and flavor injectors.”

Any weather

Who says grilling season has to end when the temperatures drop and even when the snow flies?

Grilling can be — and is — done 365 days a year.

“We’re definitely seeing a trend where people will still grill on a covered deck or in a place that’s well-ventilated,” Bell said.

“Brands like Traeger offer insulated blankets to make it easier on your fuel consumption, too.”

Pull out the smoker this Thanksgiving for a turkey your crowd will love.

Traeger offers a full turkey brine kit with a turkey blend pellet featuring oak, hickory and pale hardwoods enhanced with rosemary.

“It’s filled with flavor and allows you to prepare your entire turkey using your smoker,” Bell said.

Try it yourself

Want to taste the turkey and more? Nyberg’s Ace Grill ‘n Smoke will sample turkey breasts from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 16. at all Sioux Falls stores to show the outstanding flavor smoking can bring.

“It’s a popular demonstration, so we’ll set up earlier and go later and try to do actual taste-testing on the hour,” Bell said.

Stop by the store every weekend and you’ll likely be able to sample something, he added.

“We’ll do grilling or smoking, sometimes pretzels with sauces and rubs or Wheat Thins to try different hot sauces,” he said.

And with the holiday season approaching, watch for plenty of special offers, he added.

“A lot of our grilling partners offers specials and extra accessories with purchase,” Bell said. “It’s a fantastic opportunity for a holiday gift.”

Even better: Ace will deliver and set up your new grill for free in the Sioux Falls metro area including Tea, Harrisburg and Brandon, with any purchase of $300 or more.

“Our helpful service is what we’re known for,” Bell said. “And if you ever have a problem with your grill, we offer repairs. Our goal is to make sure we’re a full-service operation, and even though we offer the biggest brands out there, we still make it a local experience.”
